Phyllis Rowena Wilson, 76, of Royersford, PA, formerly of Upper Darby, PA, passed away January 19, 2022.
Born October 7, 1945 in Bangor, Maine, she was a daughter of the late Granville Earl and Ruth (nee Curtis) Furge.
Phyllis attended Bangor High School and after moving to Upper Darby she worked at Gimbels in Upper Darby and Bradlees in Broomall, PA prior to her retirement.
Phyllis was very active in the local community including being a member of the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Clifton Heights, PA and Calvary Baptist Church, Pottstown, PA congregations, and was a long-time honorary member of both the 7th and 8th District Fire Police Association and the Delaware County Fire Police Association. She was an avid reader of fiction novels and enjoyed keeping abreast of current events. She was a supporter of Guiding Eyes for the Blind and always enjoyed her visits from her daughter Cindy Lou’s Guide Dog, Jada. She was also an advocate for organ donation as she was a recipient of a donor liver in 2009 which allowed her 12 additional loving years with her family and friends.
Phyllis was the beloved wife of the late Robert Neil Wilson, Jr.; loving mother of Cindy Lou Altman (Cristopher) and Robert Neil Wilson, III (Manmeet “Mona”); adoring mom-mom of Matthew Gray and Emily Jackson (Gregory); and dear sister of Lorrie Davis. She was predeceased by her daughter, Lori Gray, and her brothers: Wilbert, Galen, and Maynard.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation 6 to 8 PM, Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, and 10 – 11 AM Thursday, followed by her Funeral Service at 11 AM. The Funeral Service will be recorded and available to view on this site Thursday afternoon. Interment Valley Forge Memorial Gardens.
