Porter H. J. Hoyt passed away October 28 at the age of 94. Beloved son of the late Carlton Paul and Marie V. (nee Foucher) Hoyt.
Porter is survived by his dear wife Mariellen (nee Hoffman) Hoyt; Children, Carlton Paul Hoyt, John Eugene Hoyt, Theresa Goetz, Francis Xavier Hoyt, Margaret M. Gunn, Rev. Stephen M. Hoyt, Marie E. Germsheid, Dolores Kituskie, Bonnie Meyers, Charlie Stevens, and Eric Stevens; 32 beloved grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild; Siblings, Varnum Hoyt and Shirley Harbinson. Porter was predeceased by his loving first wife Margaret (nee Fitzgerald) Hoyt and sons, Michael A. Hoyt, William J. Hoyt, and Joseph J. Hoyt, as well as, 3 of his grandchildren.
Porter was a proud veteran of the US Navy during the Korean conflict. He was also a member of the American Legion 214 as a past Commander. Porter was a 30 year employee of Burroughs Corporation. He was one of the original do it yourselfers.
Relatives and friends are invited to Porter’s viewing on Sunday, November 3rd from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Knoetgen-Donohue Funeral Home, 746 Kedron Ave, Morton, PA. There will be a second viewing on Monday, November 4th from 9:00 AM to 10:15 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 136 Saxor Ave, Springfield, PA followed by his funeral mass at 10:30 AM. Interment at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
