Surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren, Ralph Procopio, of West Chester, went to be with his Lord on November 19, 2018. He was 80 years young - a source of love and laughter for each and every person whose life he touched. His passion for life, and his unwavering faith in God, began at birth.
Ralph was born on March 2, 1938 to Mary and Vincent Felice Procopio in Shamokin, Pennsylvania. He spent his childhood years with his siblings Connie and Frank, both of whom he survived. Ralph met his best friend, Patricia Burns, when they were in their early 20's.
As they would tell the story, the bad boy fell for the prom queen. It was a beautiful love story that would soon extend far beyond themselves. On Dec. 31, 1960, Ralph and Patty married in upstate Pennsylvania. They went on to raise five beautiful children, Karen, Julianne, Christine, Cathleen, and Jimmy, in Glenolden, Pennsylvania. Their children eventually brought them three son-in-laws: William, Robert, and John. Ralph and Patty then took on the role of grandparents to 11: Justine (Fred), Alexandra (Douglas), Victoria, Caroline, William (Tamara), Christina, Michael, Jacquelyn, Danielle, Patrick, Anna, and two great grandchildren, Ferdinand and Dominic.
Anyone who knew Ralph knew he was happiest spending time with his family. There was not a football game, school play, wrestling match, choir concert, dance recital, swim meet, graduation, or birthday he missed. He was always the first smiling face you could pick out of the crowd, and the one to remind you, "you got it, kid." To his grandchildren, Ralph was a hero. A source of strength and support. Whether he was sharing an afternoon on the golf course with his wife, sharing a cigar and a tall glass of something with his kids or grandkids, talking on the phone with his son, or celebrating Mass. He was an incredible, faith-filled man. He will be truly missed, but never forgotten.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 9-10:45 AM Saturday, November 24, 2018 at SS Peter & Paul Church, 1325 Boot Road, West Chester, PA 19380 followed by his Funeral Mass 11 AM. Interment St. Agnes Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Camilla Hall, 1145 W. King Road, Malvern, PA 19355, would be appreciated.
