Regina "Jean" M. Kelly

Regina "Jean" M. Kelly (née Descher), age 81, of Springfield, PA, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (née Bulger) Descher.

Upon graduating from Cardinal Dougherty High School she went to work for Gulf Oil. She stayed home to raise her children, then worked at St. Andrew's Rectory and later The Insurance Institutes of America in Malvern.

Jean was the beloved wife of 57 years to Larry Kelly; the loving mother of Lawrence J., Donna McGann (Mark) and Janet Atkins (Clint). She was the devoted grandmother of Lauren and Mackenzie Kelly, Frankie and Mya McGann, Johnny Atkins and Ronika and Rashone Corbitt. Jean is also survived by her siblings, Joanne Rose (Jim) and Joseph Descher (Kathy) and many nieces and nephews, all of whom were her "favorite". She was predeceased by her sister, Loretta Gallagher and her brothers, John and Michael Descher.

Jean was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was a devout Catholic and prayer warrior. Jean had a quick wit and loved the sound of laughter.  She enjoyed cheering on all the Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Phillies and spending time at the Jersey shore with family and friends. She was a great friend to many, considered her lifelong friends a blessing and held a special place in her heart for the Harper Avenue crew.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing, Sunday evening, January 15, 2023, 6:00-8:00 pm at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, 610-353-6300. Jean's Funeral Mass will take place Monday, January 16, 2023, 11:00 am at St Andrew the Apostle Church, 3500 School Lane, Drexel Hill, PA 19026. Interment private.
