Regina A. "Jean" McGinley, 71, of Berwyn, PA, passed away peacefully at Neighborhood Hospice on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, in West Chester, PA after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jean, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (McBride) McCarron, is survived by her husband of 43 years, Bernard, children Michael (Sarah) and Catherine (Andrew) Buzbee, six beloved grandchildren, Elle, Claire, and Finnian McGinley, and Jackson, Andrew and Michael Buzbee and her sisters Elizabeth and Catherine
Born in Bryn Mawr and raised in Springfield, PA, Jean was a 41-year resident of Berwyn, PA, where she raised her family. After graduating from Archbishop Prendergast High School, she began her career as a service representative at Bell of Pennsylvania, where she was later promoted to management; she later worked for Bell Atlantic and then Verizon. In 2007, she achieved her lifelong dream of completing her college degree when she graduated (magna cum laude!) from Drexel University. She retired at age 64 to spend time with her family and friends, with whom she traveled the world. Many of her happiest memories were made in Ocean City, NJ, where she spent time every summer with family.
An adored wife, mother, sister, and grandmother ("Mom Mom"), her enduring optimism, ready wit, integrity, and strength of character made her a hero to her family and those who knew her (and often, their "life coach"). To paraphrase her wedding song--Jean lived a life that was full; she traveled each and every highway, but much more, much more than this, she did it her way.
