Rejoy Reji

March 28, 1998 — May 8, 2015

Rejoy Reji was born into a God-fearing Orthodox family with his fraternal twin brother, Jijoy Reji, on March 28th, 1998 in Chembur, Mumbai, India. Rejoy, his twin, their parents, Reji V. Koruthu and Elizabeth Reji, and older brother, Jinoy Reji, were all members of the Mar Gregorios Orthodox Syrian Church in Chembur. Rejoy lived in Mumbai for twelve years where he attended the Lokmanya Tilak English Medium High School. Rejoy and his family moved to the United States on August 10th, 2010. All three brothers attended Upper Darby High School. Rejoy was involved in various clubs at the school. In addition to serving as a Student Services Officer, member of the Anti-Bullying Committee, and member of the Cricket and Badminton Club, Rejoy maintained the status of a Distinguished Honor Roll student. This bright, enthusiastic child brought a smile to anyone he interacted with.

Nephew of Roy V. Koruthu, Rejoy and his family attended his uncle's parish, St. John's Indian Orthodox Church of Delaware Valley, Pennsylvania. Rejoy was an active member at church. He was ordained as an Acolyte by His Grace Thomas Mar Athanasios on August 25th, 2013. One of Rev. Fr. Siby Varghese's more enthusiastic acolytes, Rejoy always offered a helping hand and would be the first to jump at an opportunity to serve. Rejoy was a 10th grade Sunday School student who was also an eager and active member of the youth group at church, MGOCSM. Rejoy's ecstatic smile and electric personality also granted him the position of Santa Claus during church Christmas carols for two consecutive years. The year-round jolly teenager made friends quickly both at home and at school, especially with the young ones. If he was not volunteering to help with certain tasks at church, he was holding and playing with the baby of a church member on his lap.

Rejoy was a family-oriented, humble, optimistic child with an enormous love for God. His humor kept everyone smiling and we will continue to celebrate his life with, hopefully, as much energy as he shared with the world. As a testament to his namesake, Rejoy is now "Rejoicing" in the Lord. Rejoy is survived by extended family on both parents' sides.

Rejoy will be missed dearly by the community he so greatly touched and will be remembered for the incredible individual he was
