Richard Martin "Dick" Brophy passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025. Born on August 29, 1934, in Philadelphia, PA, Dick was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Helen, with whom he shared a loving marriage of 65 years and his cherished children Denise Sartorelli (Pete), Lisa Haedrich (Mark), Elaine DeStefano (Len) and daughter-in-law Rosy. He was predeceased by his son, Ricky, and his granddaughter, Nicole. He was a proud grandfather to Brian, Jessica, Tommy, Ricky, Shannon, Kyle, and Christopher, and a cherished great-grandfather to Irie. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Leona Brophy, as well as his five brothers and three sisters.
Dick served his country as an Army veteran and then became a proud graduate of LaSalle College with a degree in Business. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to successfully own and operate five businesses with his wife, Helen. Each was uniquely different than the last and Dick continued to learn about each. Known for his tireless work ethic and engaging personality, he left an indelible mark on those who knew him.
Dick found joy in life’s simple pleasures—spending time on the golf course, sitting by the pool or on the beach with a good book under the sun, and sharing laughter through his love of telling jokes. His faith was central to his life, having been an altar boy in his youth and later serving as an usher in his Catholic church. His warmth and humor will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A viewing will be held on Friday, January 17th at Saint Anastasia Church at 9:00 AM, followed by a Mass at 10:30 AM. Burial will take place at Saint Peter and Paul Cemetery at 12:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dick’s memory to a charity of your choice. May his soul rest in peace, and may his legacy live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
