Richard Hill

Richard David Hill, age 90, of New York City, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for, and loved on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at White Horse Village, Newtown Square, PA.



Born August 20, 1924 in the Bronx to David and Irma Hill, he entered the Army in 1943 and served with the 349th Infantry, 88th Division during WWII. Captured in Italy by a German patrol, he was a POW for 11 months. Upon returning from the war, he married Virginia Fritz and attended Columbia University where he received a B.A. in Business Administration. He went on to have a fulfilling career in the packaging industry culminating as the Vice President of Sales at Federal Paperboard.



Richard was predeceased by his wife, Virginia Irma (nee Fritz) Hill, who he was married to for 57 years. He is survived by his children, Peter Christopher (Beth), Tracy Elizabeth and Roger Duncan (Jennifer). He was a devoted grandfather and leaves behind three granddaughters: Emma Virginia, Molly Jane, and Corey Elizabeth.



The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the members of the Skilled Nursing Staff at White Horse Village. Their dedication and effort to provide quality care over the last few years were a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him.



A Memorial Service will be held honoring Richard at White Horse Village, 535 Gradyville Road, Newtown Square, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 1:00 PM.



In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Honor Flight, Inc. which provides flights for Vietnam War, Korean War and WWII veterans to visit their respective memorials in Washington, D.C.
