Hogg, Richard T. "Dick", 85, of Newtown Square, PA, passed away on September 9, 2013.
Born in Philadelphia in 1928, Dick was the son of Loretta (Dokenwadel) and George A. Hogg, both deceased.
He was a 1946 graduate of Springfield High School, where he played basketball.
After graduation, travelled out west and worked in a lumber camp in Washington State, which he felt taught him responsibility and the value of hard work.
In 1946, he married his wife, Alberta. They met in first grade and went through school together. They had four children together.
Dick started his automotive career at Broad motors and in 1958, at the age of 30, bought Henuber Auto Body in Lansdowne, PA. He renamed it Dick Hogg Auto Body.
He had a passion for cars, especially his 1966 Mustang GT convertible, which he owned until his death. He also enjoyed mentoring many in the automotive industry and was well respected.
Dick was the Founding President of IGO (Independent Garage Owners) which later became ASC.
He was a longtime member of the Lions Club in Drexel Hill and coached Little League in Larchmont for 5 years.
Dick was a lifelong Philadelphia Athletics/Phillies fan and enjoyed a variety of music from the Big Band Era to the Beatles. There was always music playing at home. He was also an avid reader, self-educated and lifelong learner.
He was an active member of the Marple Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, where he was an Elder and participated on committees in his younger years.
Dick was the beloved husband of Alberta Violet Hogg (nee Duck); loving father of Richard T., Jr., Robin L. Hasness (Michael), Russell J. (Cindy) and Randall E. (Cathy); dear grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
