Richard D. Lunardi, 59, longtime Exton resident, died Tuesday of complications from pancreatic cancer at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Born in 1953 in Philadelphia, he was the son of Carmela (Ciccantelli) and Henry F. Lunardi, both deceased.
A 1975 graduate of Saint Joseph's University, Rich married Elaine Miersch of Riverton, N.J., later that year. He earned a Master's degree in school counseling from West Chester University in 1981.
Richard came to Church Farm in 1981 to be the school's guidance counselor. He touched the lives of countless students and served in a number of capacities at the school over a career spanning more than 30 years including director of admissions, teacher, college counselor and administrator. He was well known for giving his all to each student in order to provide them with the best opportunity for success.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he was a member of the Church of the Good Samaritan in Paoli, where he played guitar and sang in the praise band. An avid sports fan, he participated in the local sports scene through coaching, cheering on his children and students, and working at sporting events at Church Farm School and multiple West Chester area schools.
Rich was the beloved husband of Elaine (Miersch) Lunardi; devoted father of Christopher R. Lunardi (Laura) of West Chester, PA, Teresa M. Wemhoff (Aaron) of Media, PA, Jeffrey S. Lunardi (Kimberly) of Richmond, VA and John J. Lunardi (fiancé Jessica) of West Chester, PA; loving grandfather of Hope, Grayson, Olivia, Gianna, Anthony and Claire; and dear brother of Henry J. Lunardi (Trish) and Joe Lunardi (Pam).
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 6:00-9:00 PM Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA, 610-431-9000 and to his Memorial Service 10:30 AM Wednesday at the Church of the Good Samaritan, 212 W. Lancaster Ave, Paoli, PA 19301. Interment Private.
