Richard Wolensky, Sr. age 85 of Prospect Park, PA passed away peacefully on July 20, 2017 surrounded by family after a sudden illness and long battle in the hospital. One of eleven children born to Stephen and Rose (Slohyniak) Wolensky in Luzerne, PA, Richard lived in Prospect Park, PA for nearly forty years. Rich taught English at West Deptford High School in New Jersey for thirty-six years, which he really enjoyed. He also taught H.S. basketball for eight years in New Jersey. He retired in 1994. After graduating from King's College in Wilkes Barre, PA, he spent two years with the United States Army in Alaska, attached to the USAF 10TH Air Division, on "Special Assignment" at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Anchorage. He moved to Delaware County, PA to start a family. He enjoyed dart and bowling leagues as well as amateur golf and helping his brother-in-law participate in Mid Atlantic Blind Golf Association (MABGA.org) outings. He also enjoyed tomato gardening and the gladiolas in the garden. Richard is survived by, and will be sadly missed by, his four children, Richard, Mark, John, and Kathleen Stauffer (Bob) and is predeceased by his son, Joseph. He will also be missed and remembered by his four grandchildren, Meg, Kalina, Kristen, and Benjamin, and loving siblings, Dorothy and Bernie. Richie is predeceased by his wife of 42 years Margaret M. Wolensky (Turner), and his siblings, Pauline, Very Reverend Nicholas, Paul, Helen, Steve, Rose, Leonard, and John. Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing 11:00 AM -12:00 PM Wednesday at Holy Myrrh-Bearers Eastern Catholic Church, 900 Fairview Rd, Swarthmore, PA followed by his Funeral Service at 12:00 PM.
