Rita Welde

Rita Teresa Welde entered the Kingdom of Heaven on September 6, 2018. She was surrounded by her family. Rita (nee McCartney), aged 92, lived in Havertown since her teens. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank H. and Anna McCartney (nee McGrath).



Rita was a 1944 graduate of John W. Hallahan High School in Philadelphia, PA. She had been employed as an Administrative Assistant at Bryn Mawr Hospital.



Rita was a devoted mother to her four children and four grandchildren. She hosted weekly Sunday brunches at her home for the entire family. She was a devout Catholic whose faith never wavered. Rita was a symbol of faith, wisdom, kindness and optimism to all who knew her. She enjoyed going to movies, the theatre and travel. Rita and her family enjoyed many very happy summers in Cape May, NJ.

Rita was predeceased by her beloved husband, William J. Welde, and her siblings Teresa M. McCartney, Thomas McCartney, Marie McCartney, Ann Woods, Rosemary McCartney, James McCartney and Frank McCartney.

She is survived by her loving children W. Joseph Welde (Linda), Christopher A. Welde (Amy), Maureen Welde and Timothy M. Welde (Kathleen) and her grandchildren Willie, Leah, Alex and Amanda Welde.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM, Sacred Heart Church, Manoa and Shelbourne Roads, Havertown, PA.

Interment SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
