Robert Huntington “Bobby” Bannister, age 55, of Springfield, PA, passed away on November 6, 2024. Born in Glen Cove, NY, he was the beloved son of the late Robert James and Claire Bannister.
He is survived by his siblings, Allison, Holly and Jason, along with their spouses, Ben, Douglas, and Jonna, as well as his nieces, nephews, cousins, aunt and uncle and many friends. Bobby was also dearly loved by Jack “Daddy” Woods and the entire Woods family.
Bobby was a long-time member of the Don Guanella family in Springfield, arriving there in 1997 and living at the Cardinal Krol Center. He then transitioned to the Meetinghouse Home in 2014 and, for the last 3 years, was lovingly cared for by the staff at the IHM House on S. Sproul Rd. in Springfield.
From childhood, Bobby was fascinated with firemen and fire trucks, and this would often be seen in his perennial Halloween costume dressed as a fireman. He also enjoyed all the holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas, and you could always expect a hearty “gobble, gobble” from Bobby as Thanksgiving approached. Even the national holidays, such as Memorial Day and Labor Day, Bobby enjoyed particularly the barbecues associated with those holidays with the “hot dogs, hamburgers, and coke.” He was big fan of the children’s character, “Barney” the Purple Dinosaur, and could always be counted on as an avid Eagles fan. Bobby will be deeply missed.
