Robert Leo Benedict, Sr., age 88, of Broomall, PA, formerly of Audubon, NJ and Philadelphia, PA passed away on September 9, 2014.
Robert was born September 22, 1925 to Leo and Emma (Robejsek) Benedict. "Bud" married Dorothy (Baker) Benedict (deceased) in 1955 and had three children. Born in St. Paul, MN, Bud's family moved to the Philadelphia and New Jersey areas in 1940. Bud graduated from Roman Catholic High School, The Gibson Business School and attended the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School Of Business. Bud retired in 1984 after 34 years with the E.I. DuPont Company in Wynnewood, PA and Wilmington, DE. He worked in sales in the Industrial Chemicals Department.
Bud was very involved with the Marple Jr. Tigers Football Organization for over 10 years. He was also very involved in his parish, St. Pius X. Bud loved his 30 years in retirement as he was a master gardener, and volunteered with the IRS to do taxes for the elderly at 70 years old and continued to prepare taxes for them until he was 86 years old.
But his greatest enjoyment was with his family, especially his grandchildren. Along with his devoted wife, Dotty, his home was the hub for all family gatherings, holidays, birthdays and neighborhood get-togethers. Bud loved to entertain and have family around him. His grandchildren adored him.
He has joined his wife, Dotty in eternal life and leaves behind his children: Barbara A. Shea (William), Marilyn M. Benedict and Robert Jr (Elizabeth). Bud also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Andrew and Gregory Wechsler, Kathleen and William Shea Jr, Christina Benedict Saraceni (Stephen), Robert III (Melissa), and Shane Benedict and great-grandchildren Taylor and Dalton.
