Robert L. Conroy, age 67 of Lansdale, PA, passed away on March 8, 2014 at his home. Beloved husband of Elizabethann Conroy (nee Thanel); Loving father of Robert W. Conroy (Donna), Jennifer Conroy-Schwartz (William), and Catherine Conroy de Paulo (Craig); brother of Mary Quap. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kaitlin Flynn (nee Conroy), Emily Conroy, Mary Conroy, Christian de Paulo and a great-granddaughter, Lily Matilda Flynn.
A retired Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army, 358 Civil Affairs Brigade, Robert was also a civil servant with the U.S. Department of Defense for thirty years. He earned a BA degree in Sociology from La Salle University in 1968, a MS degree in Education from the University of Southern California in 1970 and a MS degree in Information Technology from Philadelphia University in 1999. A faithful Catholic, he was a Lector at Our Lady of Ransom parish in Philadelphia and, more recently, at St. Stanislaus parish in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. A lifelong supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, he was himself an Eagle Scout and, for a time, a Scout Leader. An avid skier, he was also a member of the National Ski Patrol and a volunteer Instructor for Avalanche recovery and rescue for many years. In his retirement, Robert pursued many diverse interests, including sailing and attaining a Captaincy of Commercial Vessels license among other things. He also volunteered at many organizations, including the Tug Boat Jupiter and the Steam Boat SPLASH. A lover of local history and meeting new people, he was also a member of the Association of Tour Guides. In short, Robert was a man of countless accomplishments; but most of all, he was known for his joyful personality, and as a person of great compassion and kindness. Requiescat in pace.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Thursday March 13, 2014, 10:00- 11:00 AM at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, 51 Lansdale Ave., Lansdale, PA 19446, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Interment St. John Neumann Cemetery, 3797 County Line Road, Chalfont, PA 18914. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation would be much appreciated.
