Robert DeYoung

Robert Dile DeYoung, age 80, of Newtown Square, PA, formerly of Havertown, PA, passed peacefully from us after a short illness on October 9, 2021.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Sidney and Anna E. (nee Dile) DeYoung.

Robert was a graduate of Haverford High School and was a volunteer Fire Fighter for the Bon Air Fire Company for 15 years.  He served his country honorably for 2 terms in the U.S. Air Force and served  during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was also a proud member of the Mount Holyoke Masonic Lodge in South Hadley Falls, MA.

Robert was the owner and president of DeYoung’s Fireside Shoppe in Newtown Square, PA for many years.  He was an active and faithful member of the Newtown Square Presbyterian Church and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Marjorie (nee Greene) DeYoung; his loving son, Robert Sidney (Virginia); and 3 grandchildren, Robert H. DeYoung (Tricia), Kimberly I. Young (Michael J.), and Timothy P. DeYoung.  He is also survived by his 6 great-grandchildren and was predeceased by his son, Richard Vernon DeYoung.

Relatives and friends are invited to join Greetings with Family on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Newtown Square Presbyterian Church, 3600 Goshen Road, Newtown Square, PA  19073, followed by his Memorial Service at 11:00 AM.  Interment at Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, PA, will be held privately.
