Robert Edwards

Robert (Bob) Edwards was the youngest of four children born to Edwin and Catherine Edwards in Williamsport, PA. His Siblings included Bernard, Edwin and Catherine. From Williamsport the family moved to various locations in Philadelphia. After graduating from West Catholic High School, Bob gained employment with the Brills Co., where he met his future wife, Anne McGarvey. Robert enlisted in the Army in 1943 during WWII and served as a Radio Operator. He was stationed in New Zealand, the Philippines and Japan. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Robert started a position as a Logistics Officer with the Department of Defense at the Philadelphia Navy Base where he remained for 30 years. He married Anne in 1950 and together they had 3 daughters, Elaine (Barrett) Joan (Hourigan) and Nancy (Mandato). He was the proud grandfather of Felix Jr. and Dane Mandato. After retiring from the Department of Defense, he worked at The Camera Shop for the next ten years. During their retirement, Bob and Anne enjoyed traveling up and down the East Coast. After Anne’s death in 2006, Bob remained on Briarcliffe Road until 2017 when he became a resident of Brandywine Living at Senior Suites until his death on September 10, 2019.

Bob was often the life of the party and some of his hobbies included computers, photography, bowling and traveling. His sense of humor and winning smile will be missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to his Viewing at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Dr. Secane, Pa on Tuesday October 1, 2019  10:00 to 11:00 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 AM. Interment: SS Peter and Paul Cemetery.
