Robert L. Hand

Robert Lawrence Hand died September 17, 2024 in Paoli, PA. 

He was born on November 17, 1941 to the late Lawrence and Helen (Rickard) Hand in Philadelphia, PA. Bob is survived by his son, Lawrence (Dawn) Hand, five grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and his sister, Joan Washburn. He is also survived by his partner of 26 years, Donna Dougherty, her children and grandchildren.

Bob served in the US Army and achieved the rank of Master Sargent in the 82nd Airborne Battle Group 325. He served two tours in Vietnam and one tour with the Special Forces in Cambodia. 

Bob worked at “Newtown Square Shoe Repair” where he specialized in orthopedic work. He then opened “Bob’s Shoe Repair” in North Myrtle Beach, SC, on HW 9 and worked there until retirement. 

Bob, "Bandstand Bob", was well known for his love of dancing originating during the Bob Horn years of Bandstand. Bob also had a passion for collecting historical documents, trains and many other collectibles. His kindness and zest for life will be missed.
