Robert Hartfield

Robert "Bob" J. Hartfield, 90, of West Chester, PA and formerly of Drexel Hill passed away on November 21, 2013 at Wellington Terrace, West Chester.

A Philadelphia native, he was born in 1923 to Anna (DeLuca) and Robert J. Hartfield, both deceased. He spent the later years of his life in Delaware and Chester counties. His education was completed at Kent State, Texas A&M and Indiana University.

After honorably serving three years in the US Army's Combat Engineer Corps as a Sergeant during World War II, he married and spent the next 39 years in Drexel Hill where he was a member of St. Bernadette Church. While there, he served as president of the Holy Name Society as well as Lector and Eucharistic Minister. He was a mover and shaker in the founding of the first parish council. Also, the parish's first three Broadway musicals were produced by him.

In 1989, he took up residence in Hershey's Mill and joined SS Peter & Paul parish where he served two years as Chairman of the Finance Committee and also functioned in the aforementioned ministries.

A career insurance person, Bob founded his own agency, Associated Professional Services, Inc. He was also a committed volunteer serving as such for 20 years, first at Mercy Fitzgerald then with Paoli Memorial Hospital.

Robert was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy M. (Greenley) Hartfield in 2012.

He was the loving father of Donna (George), Robert (Lucie), Richard (Christine) and Dorothy (Daniel); loving grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Walter Hartfield.
