Robert P. Helms, 86, of Swarthmore, PA, formerly of Lansdowne, PA, passed away on February 9, 2017. Born in Lansdowne in 1930, he was the son of the late William E. Helms, Sr. and Pansy May Helms (nee Pickard).
Robert was a 1948 graduate of Lansdowne High School and received his Bachelor's Degree from Widener University. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War era. He was employed by Boeing in Ridley Park, PA as a Mechanical Engineer. He retired in 1994.
Robert was the beloved husband of Nancy Helms (nee Johnson); loving father of Lori Barrow (Bret), Dana Helms, Cindy Maher (the late Len), Brian Huss (Nancy), and Craig Stephens (Frani); dear brother of William E. Helms, Jr. (Kitty) and the late Jacob Helms (Laura); also survived by 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Wednesday, February 15, 2017 10:00-11:30 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073 (610) 353-6300 followed by his Funeral Service at 11:30 AM. Interment Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill.
