On September 13, 2018, Robert Norris Jordan, Jr., age 88, passed away in Philadelphia.
Born January 24, 1930, in Philadelphia, the child of Robert N. and Mary M. Jordan, Robert was raised in Melrose Park, Wyncote, and Abington and became an accomplished pianist. A graduate of Cheltenham High School, Robert earned degrees from Ursinus College (B.A.) and the University of Pennsylvania (Master of Arts in Linguistics). After service overseas in the U.S. Army, Robert returned to Philadelphia to begin a lengthy career in public relations, with Univac and with his own company, Jordan Communications, resulting in long associations with, among others, Franklin Institute Research Laboratories and some sixteen colleges, primarily the University of Pennsylvania. A lengthy residence on North 20th Street in the city.
Robert maintained his mastery of numerous foreign languages and from time to time attended classes featuring the same, primarily offered by Temple University.
He is survived by his brother, David Jordan, his sister, Jane Jordan Schmitz, three nieces, Diana Jordan Born, Laura Jane Jordan, and Sarah Melissa Jordan, and three grandnieces and nephews, Augustus Born, Charles Jordan-Weinstein, and Grace Jordan-Weinstein.
There will be no formal service.
