Robert Cyril Kane Sr, of Malvern, and formerly of Upper Darby, PA died peacefully on Sunday Morning in his home.
He was 85 years old, and would be 86 on May 19th 2018.
Bob was the beloved husband of Dorothy Kane (Ann, Dougherty). Loving Father to Robert C. Jr (Kathleen), Gregory C., M.D. (Jean), and Alison Castle Kane.
Devoted Grand-Father of Matthew, Maura, Dylan, Mary-Bridget, Brian, Brogan, Liam and Phoebe.
A graduate of West Catholic High School and Villanova University ( B.S. in Accounting), Bob worked at the central Philadelphia post office to defray the cost of his education.
On April 26th 1958, Bob married Dorothy Ann Dougherty.
They lived briefly in Drexel Hill and Broomall before settling in Newtown Square, PA to raise their family.
Bob and Dorothy owned a fishing boat and vacation home in Avalon during the late 1990's and early 2000's; and in 1997, Bob retired with Dorothy to Chapel Hill NC until 2013 when they moved back to their roots to Malvern, PA.
Bob was one of the most generous, industrious, and confident men you could ever meet; he brought with him a healthy competitive spirit, a deep caring responsibility for his family, and a fun-loving zest for life!
First and foremost, Bob was a family-man who loved to spend time with his sons, daughter, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and extended family.
In his younger years, he enjoyed spending time his brother Edward, sister Joan, (and their families), his mother Elizabeth and father Edward who all pre-deceased him.
Professionally, Bob began his career as an accountant with Arthur Young
before working for Hewlett-Packard in the 1970s and Canberra Industries in the 1980s and 1990s.
In each role, he brought value to the companies through dedication and vision.
Bob was also a man of many talents beyond his vocation.
In addition to being a CPA and CFO - Bob was also an electrician, plumber, mason, carpenter, arm chair historian, fisherman, boater, golfer, cook, outdoorsman....and, yes, a provocateur. Bob used these avocations to enrich the lives of his family, friends and of those he loved around him; creating lasting memories for those to cherish forever.
