Robert Butler Lawler 1938-2025

Our dear Bob-O left us on March 14, 2025 at the age of 86.

We are deeply saddened but also profoundly grateful for the many happy memories of our lives together. Bob lived life to the fullest.

Bob is survived by his dearest wife Mary, his sons Tim and Ben of whom Bob was so proud and by 5 of the most incredible grandchildren; Benny, Harrison, Presley, TJ and Tayleigh Lawler. Bob is also survived by his brother Chris Lawler and family, and by Allie and Kate Lawler, dear daughters of Bob's late sister Penny.

Bob was raised in Sleepy Hollow NY, graduated from the Kent School in Connecticut and attended Princeton for two years before deciding to join the US Army stationed in Germany. Upon his return, Bob tried his hand on Wall Street and in retail, before returning to Columbia University to finish his undergraduate degree and go on to law school at Villanova graduating with honors in 1972.

As a newly minted attorney, Bob worked for the Public Defender, the special Prosecutor office, and the Philadelphia district attorney's office acting as the head of homicide appeals office under the DA Eddie Rendell.

Ultimately Bob would join his colleague Ed Wilbraham in setting up a private practice which would grow to over 30 attorneys under the Wilbraham, Lawler & Buba firm.

Bob was also active in the community, with service on the board of Surrey Services, Mainline Night School, the TE library fundraising board. You could find him playing sports, playing tennis, squash, racquetball and anything competitive.

In retirement, Bob and Mary travelled all over the world. Nearly all continents were visited except antarctica. Over 100 countries and counting.

Bob's insatiable curiosity and love of life made for a wonderful travel companion in all our journey's especially in our marriage of 57 years.

Bob's favorite charity was Doctor's without Border's':

40 Rector Street, 16th Floor, New York NY 10006

A celebration of Bob's life will be held for family and friends.
