Robert Montgomery, 84, of Springfield, PA, passed away on July 24, 2016.
Born in 1932 in Dumbarton, Scotland, he was the son of the late Robert and Elizabeth (nee Lyons) Montgomery. After traveling the world as a ship engineer for the UK Merchant Navy, he moved to the US in his late 20's and worked on cruise ships originating out of New York City that toured the Carribean. After marrying Catherine in 1963, he spent a 30 year career as a boiler inspector and engineer for the Factory Mutual Insurance Company. Bob loved Irish music and dance and was an avid sports fan.
Robert was the beloved husband of Catherine (nee Gallagher); the loving father of Mary, Liam (Colleen), Kevin (Marco Angelucci), and Eamonn (Andy Cohen); the loving grandfather of Shannon, Brenna, and Vivian; the dear brother of Alice Van Weers and Agnes McIlveney; the cousin of Elaine Shields-Eury; he was predeceased by his siblings Michael, Joseph, John, and Betty Robinson.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 10:00-11:00 AM Friday, July 29, 2016 at St. Francis of Assissi Church, 136 Saxer Avenue, Springfield, PA 19064 followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
