Robert Phillips, Sr.

Robert A. Phillips, Sr., 81, of West Chester, PA passed away on October 15, 2014 at the Coatesville VA Medical Center.
Born in Greensboro, NC in 1933, he was the son of Margaret A (Applewhite) and John A. Phillips, Sr., both deceased. He was also predeceased by his grandparents, Mr & Mrs. Henry Applewhite and Mr. & Mrs. Henry O. Phillips.
Robert graduated from the Benedictine Military School in Savannah, GA and received his Bachelor's Degree from Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL.
He served honorably in the US Air Force for 4 years.
Robert worked as a Quality Control Executive for Scott Paper for over 20 years and for Crown Cork and Seal for 10 years.
He enjoyed spending time at the beach and on the water and loved taking his family to Tybee Island in Savannah, GA.
Robert was the beloved husband of Harriet T. (Thompson) Phillips; loving father of Robert A., Jr. of Downingtown, Kevin P. of Downingtown, Michael T (Nell Rose) of Malvern, Harriet Ann Danese (Don) of Newark, DE and Stephen P. (Melissa) of West Chester; loving grandfather of Alexandria, Francesca, Shelby, Kevin, Christopher, Kaitie, Jack, Donny, Nicholas, Julianna, Noah, Patrick and Olivia; dear brother of Michelle Whitledge, Dr. John A. Phillips, Jr. (Suzanne) and the late Jude Ann Smith (Joseph); dear nephew of Henry O. Phillips.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 9:30-11:00 a.m. and to his Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 20, 2014 at SS Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Ct, West Chester, PA. Interment will be at St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the The Jesuits of the Central & Southern Province, 4511 West Pine Blvd., Saint Louis, MO 63108 or Coatesville VA Medical Center, 1400 Blackhorse Hill Road, Coatesville, PA 19320.
