Robert Risk Jr., adored father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 6, 2016, five days before his 86th birthday. Born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania to Margaret Jamison and Robert Risk, Sr. in 1930, Bob enjoyed most of his life as a Wayne resident and enthusiast. Bob graduated from Radnor High School in 1948 and continued on to Nichols College where he was a star football, basketball, and baseball player, later being inducted into the College's Hall of Fame for all three sports. Following his graduation from college, Bob served in the United States Army during the Korean War. In 1955, Bob married Nancy Ann Hathaway of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. A year later, Bob saw the birth of their son, Robert Risk III.
Following his military service, Bob had a successful career of over 40 years as a sales manager for Fleming Foods.
An enthusiast of life and laughter, Bob enjoyed fishing in Martha's Vineyard with family, playing tennis and captaining the Haverford Racquet Club, and suffering as a lifelong Phillies and Eagles fan. As his business card in retirement read, Bob was "always up for a game." A fierce card-shark and Radnor Little League coach for 26 years, he had a good-natured competitive spirit that accompanied him through life.
More than anything, Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and making those around him smile. According to Bob, no one was a stranger. And no day was better spent than breakfast at Minella's, a day at the ballpark with his grandchildren, and dinner at Frankie's Fellini Cafe.
Bob will be missed tremendously by his son Robert and daughter-in-law Jayne, grandchildren Trevor, Jason, and Katherine, granddaughters-in-law Jennifer and Kelly, and great grandchildren James Robert, Hutton, Harper, and Hathaway Bea. One of four children, Bob is also survived by his sister Margaret Kennedy.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bob's family on Saturday, March 12, 2016, from 9:00-11:00 am at St. John's Presbyterian Church, 217 Berkeley Road, Devon, PA with the service following at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Bob's memory to his beloved alma mater, Nichols College, 124 Center Road, Dudley, MA 01571.
In his remembrance, Bob would request that you "laugh all you can, it's cheap medicine"
