Robert Thomas Senior, age 76, passed away after a 6 month battle with stage 4 Glioblastoma.
Bob grew up in Southwest Phila. He graduated from West Catholic High School for boys in 1962 and briefly attended Pierce Junior College before working at the Philadelphia Electric Co. until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in September of 1964. He served one tour in Vietnam as a Corpsman with the first Marine Division Third Battalion from July 1967 to July 1968. In addition, Bob served on the USS Independence, USS Coronado, and USS Sylvania before retiring in February 1989.
After retirement, Bob attended Widener University and received his Bachelors in History and Master in Liberal Studies. In his spare time, Bob volunteered with the Delaware County Literacy Council, Our Lady of Perpetual Help alter custodians, Knights of Columbus, VFW Herbert Best Post #928 in Folsom, Marine Corp League, AmVets Post #118 in Morton, and Vietnam Vets of America.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Matthew and Julia, and his older brother Matthew. Surviving are his brother Joe (Michelle), nieces and nephews, and a cousin Bill Swindell (Tina).
Relatives and friends are invited to His Visitation, Saturday, December 12, 2020, 9:30-10:30 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 2130 Franklin Ave, Morton, PA 19070, followed by his Funeral Mass 10:30 AM. The Mass will be livestreamed here: https://www.facebook.com/thedonohuefuneralhome/ . Interment is Private for family only.
In lieu of flowers, donation in his memory can be made to the charity of donor’s choice.
