Ronald P. Smyth

Ronald “Ron” P. Smyth of West Chester PA. passed away suddenly on February 23, 2025.

Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on December 23rd 1954, he was the son of Doreen and the late Gerard Smyth. 

Ron was brother to Eileen, Doreen, Kathy, Donna, Patrick and the late Gerald Smyth; son-in-law to Todd and the late Elaine Kilpatrick. He was the beloved husband of Maureen (née Kilpatrick); loving father to Megan (Stummer), Sean, Christopher and Sarah (Fithian); adoring grandfather (aka Pops) to Samantha and Ryan; father-in-law to Sinem Smyth, Chris Stummer, David Fithian and s/o Melissa Leonard. 

Part of a large family and married into a large family (the Kilpatricks), he loved all of his in-laws, nieces and nephews. Ron was a larger than life man who left an even larger impression on everyone he met. A man who truly loved life and lived it to the fullest. Some of the things Ron enjoyed most were spending time with his family and friends at the beach, watching his grandkids grow, sharing a laugh and story about life adventures. 

Ron was proud of his Irish heritage, had a fondness for music, and loved to dance. Ron really enjoyed a good cigar. He loved to try a new recipe with Maureen, travel to new places, and was always there to lend a hand or give a hug. His presence and smile would light up a room. He was taken too soon, but his memory will live on forever. To know Ron was to love Ron. 

Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life and legacy at his Viewing 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, February 28, 2025 and 8:30-9:30 AM Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382 followed by his Funeral Mass 10:30 AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 233 W. Gay St, West Chester, PA. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield PA.
