Rose Smith

Rose M. Smith (nee Malatesta), age 86, of Glenolden, PA, formerly of Cape May, NJ, passed away peacefully the morning of May 4, 2021.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Nicola and Jennie (nee Anziano) Malatesta.

Rose was employed as a Secretary for Strawbridge & Clothier Department Store for many years. Rose loved to have fun and her family was her life!   She especially enjoyed cooking for them, serving up her many homemade Italian dishes.  From 2003 to 2016, Rose resided in Cape May and loved being able to live there independently, enjoying the beach and boating as well.  In her spare time, Rose enjoyed gardening too.

Rose was the beloved wife of the late Charles H. Smith; the loving mother of Thomas A. Smith (Laura) and Roseann M. Smith (Ted); the devoted grandmother of Michael (Lindsay), Matthew (Michelle), Tom, Jennifer, Christine (Drew),  Lauren (Jeff), Gregory (Jessica), Shawn, Jillian, Lauren and Kelly.  She was the great-grandmother of 15.  Rose is predeceased by her sisters, Theresa Malatesta and Anna Caporal (the late Ralph) and her brother, Gabriel Malatesta.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing, Friday, May 7, 2021, 9:30 – 10:30 AM at The Knoetgen-Donohue Funeral Home, 746 Kedron Avenue, Morton, PA  19070, 610-544-0600, followed by her Funeral Mass, 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Drive, Secane, PA  19018.  Interment private.
