Rosemarie V. Marley (née Shevland), age 77, of Havertown, PA, passed away unexpectedly on January 16, 2021. Born in Philadelphia, Rosemarie was the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Jeanette Shevland (née Enos). A proud Burrmaid, she graduated from West Philadelphia Catholic High School for Girls in 1961 and continued to be an active alumnus, enjoying lunches with high school girlfriends. Rosemarie worked at Bell Telephone, American Tele-Response, and Acorn Behavioral Healthcare Management, continuing on when the company became Horizon Mental Health Management. After retirement, she joined the Haverford Township School District, and later Marple Newtown School District, as a bus aide. It brought her great joy to read to the children, celebrate birthdays, and decorate the bus for holidays.
Rosemarie was an active member of Sacred Heart Church in Havertown, where she was a greeter. She took abundant pleasure in her role as a grandmother, aunt, and great-aunt. Rosemarie looked forward to summer weekends down the shore with her nieces, making blankets for babies and teen moms with her crochet group, and keeping up with long-distance friends and family on Facebook. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends, including recent trips to Ireland, Mexico, Alabama, San Francisco, and New York. A most memorable journey was a pilgrimage made to Fatima, Portugal, Lourdes, France, and Santiago de Compostela, Spain with her niece Maureen and sister-in-law Mary. Rosemarie’s last trip was to Miami for her eldest granddaughter’s wedding in February, 2020.
Rosemarie was the loving mother of Kimberly Farr (Thomas) and Christopher Marley (Rosemary); proud grandmother of Darrow Farr Petaccio (Carmen), Bridget Marley, Kiera Marley, Ronan Marley, and Hallie Rose Farr. Rosemarie is also survived by nieces Maureen Santore (Francis), Suzanne DePietro (Jim), Danielle Cantlin (John), Rebecca Shevland, and their children; cousins Darrow Forbes, Michele Salter (Drew), Chelsea Herron (Katie), and their children; and Peter Marley.
Rosemarie was preceded in death by her parents Joseph P. and Jeanette Shevland; brother Edward Shevland and sister-in-law Mary Shevland (née Logue).
Due to Covid restrictions, there will not be a viewing, however, visitation will take place Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Havertown, followed by Mass at 10:30 AM and burial at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield, PA.
