Rosemary Kane Franzen, 60, of West Chester, PA, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at home after a lengthy battle with leukemia.
Born on December 7, 1954 in Mahanoy City, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Burke) Kane of Mahanoy City.
Rose received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the School of Allied Medical Professions at the University of Pennsylvania in 1976. Rose worked as a physical therapist for many organizations, including Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital of Frazer, PA, The Melmark Home of Newtown Square, PA, and Easter Seals of Delaware County until her retirement in 2012. She loved providing physical therapy services to special needs children and spending time with family and friends while vacationing at the beach and boating on the Upper Chesapeake Bay. She found great comfort in the warm and caring staff at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, the friends she made while there, and always kept a positive outlook during her ordeal.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Rick Franzen; daughters Hillary Turner (Steven), Beth Franzen, and Victoria Franzen; granddaughter Libby Turner; sister Sally Kane, and brother Jim Kane; and four nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society via Caitrin Lally's Team in Training fundraising page (pages.teamintraining.org/vtnt/chicago15/clally) where Caitie will be running the Chicago Marathon in October in Rose's memory. Caitie has run several other races in Rose's honor, including the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC, shortly after Rose was diagnosed with Leukemia.
