Rosemary Claire Meyer, 81, of Downingtown, PA, passed away December 3, 2024.
Born February 4, 1943, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Ohmeis and Katherine Mary (née Wachter) Meyer. Rosemary attended Annunciation BVM in Havertown, PA. and graduated in 1961 from Archbishop Prendergast in Upper Darby, PA.
Rosemary started working for Strawbridge and Clothier Department Store in 1961 and in 1967 she opened the Strawbridge and Clothier store in Plymouth Meeting, PA as the Manager of hosiery, socks and slippers. She completed the Executive Development program in 1968 for Strawbridge and Clothier. In the 70’s Rosemary was a sales representative for Berkshire and Dior hosiery. Durning that time she opened other stores including Lit Brothers in Philadelphia with Berkshire and Dior hosiery. In May 1965 she finished postgraduate work in the Dental Assisting Program from the School of Dentistry at the University of Pennsylvania and then worked as a dental assistant for the Devereux Foundation of Pennsylvania.
Throughout the 80’s and 90’s Rosemary was a Health Aide for people in Hospice. While living in Mrytle Beach and Southside Beach, South Carolina she continued her work in hospice. This is work she continued, in an unofficial capacity, at her senior living communities until her death.
Rosemary was a strong believer in AA and worked the program faithfully. She was a sponsor and friend to countless individuals through her 48 years of sobriety. Rosemary’s faith in Jesus Christ guided her throughout her life.
She was the loving mother of Christine M. Marlo-Triemstra (Dr. Jennifer); adoring grandmother of Stella and Frances; and dear sister of Andrew Meyer (Hope), John Meyer (Patricia), Barney Meyer (Cindy), and Katherine Meyer; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends; and formally married to and had children with Dennis S. Marlo (Karen). Rosemary was predeceased by her niece Jennifer Thibault (nee Meyer), and her son, Kevin D. Marlo, who perished in the terrorist attacks on 9/11/2001 in the World Trade Center, New York.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Saturday, December 21, 2024, at The Donohue Funeral Home, 43 W. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335, followed by her Memorial Service at 12:00 PM. Interment at Northwood Cemetery.
