Rosemary Poe

January 3, 1928 — October 14, 2015

Rosemary Joan Poe (nee Freiseis) died peacefully, surrounded by her family on October 14, 2015 due to complications following heart surgery. She was 87 years old and lived in Exton, PA.



Born in 1928 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Gaither) Freiseis.



She was a 1951 graduate, with a degree in English Literature, of Dumbarton College of the Holy Cross in Washington D.C. During that time, Rosemary met and then married David Poe in 1952. They lived in Washington, D.C., where Rosemary worked for the U.S. Department of State, before moving to Bala Cynwd, PA, then later to Newtown Square, PA where they raised their family. Rosemary and Dave divorced many years later.



Later, she worked in the Admissions Department at Lankenau Hospital and after her retirement, dedicated herself to helping care for two of her grandchildren.



In her younger years, Rosemary studied piano and sang in choral groups, including performances for wounded World War II veterans at Walter Reed Medical Center. She had a love for music and developed a passion for antiques in her later years, enjoyed reading and discussing current events. She was most happy spending time with her family.



Rosemary was preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth Poe, and her brother, Frank Freiseis.



She was the devoted mother of Catherine Poe of Oakland, CA, Patricia Poe of Malvern, PA, and Eileen Poe-Yamagata (Hisashi Yamagata) of Olney, MD; loving grandmother of Mia Fine, David Fine, Emma Poe-Yamagata, and Ian Poe-Yamagata; dear sister-in-law of Rose Freiseis.



She was a life-long Catholic and a member of St. Elizabeth's Roman Catholic Church in Chester Springs, PA.



Relatives and friends are invited to greet her family 9:30-10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 20th at St. Elizabeth Church, 100 Fellowship Road, Chester Springs, PA, followed by her Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken.



An early afternoon luncheon will be provided following interment at the Bernard Hankin Building, 689 Rice Boulevard, Exton, PA, 19341.
