Ruric Orrell, Jr.

Ruric S. “Rick” Orrell, Jr., age 84, of Folsom, PA, passed away on December 4, 2020. Born in Darby, PA, he was the beloved son of the late Ruric S. Orrell, Sr. and Ruth Lincoln McConnell.

Rick was a member of Holmes Fire Company for 65 years. A past Fire Chief, past President, and life member of the Company. He was a life member of the Keystone State Fire Chiefs Association. Rick was also a life member of the Delaware County Firemen’s Association where he served as 3rd District Fire Marshal for Ridley Township for 15 years and a member of the Ridley Township Firemen’s Association. In addition, Rick was a life member and past President of the Delaware Valley Fire Chiefs Association. He was a U.S. Army Veteran stationed at Fort Eustis, VA and U.S. Army Transportation Training Command. He was a Social member of the Media V.F.W Post 3460. Rick enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, bowling, playing cards, and trains. He was an avid fan of the Ridley Raiders, the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.

Rick was the loving husband of Sylvia Orrell (nee Haagen); beloved father of Cheryl Heller (Edward), Ruric Orrell, III (Michelle), Robert Orrell, and Tina Knapp (Sean); adoring grandfather of Ethan, Aspen, Joseph, and Ryleigh; caring brother of Karol Armstrong and Donald Orrell.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation Thursday, December 10, 2020 10:00-11:00 AM at The Knoetgen-Donohue Funeral Home, 746 Kedron Avenue, Morton, PA followed by his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM.  Interment Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Broomall, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106 would be appreciated.

Masks are to be worn when visiting the family, to the Funeral Service and Cemetery.   Social distancing is to be observed.
