Sarajane Robertson Manning

Sarajane (née Robertson) Manning, of West Chester, PA, formerly of Havertown, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2022, surrounded by her family. Sallie, as she was known to friends, was born May 29, 1944 the only child of Harry and Marion Robertson in Pittsburgh, PA, Sallie grew up in Lancaster, PA attending Hempfield High where she excelled in field hockey and tennis. A 1966 graduate of West Chester University (B.A./M.Ed.). Sallie enjoyed multiple careers as a teacher in Plymouth Whitemarsh and Haverford School Districts and as a banker for First Union/Corestates/Wachovia. 

Sallie is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years Michael J. Manning, her three children Kerstin Manning Kimel (Jack), Michael Robertson Manning (Karen), Lindsay Manning Mulhern (Matt) and nine grandchildren: Caroline, Mac, Cullen, Sydney, Quinn, Shea, Colton, Claire and Padriac. Sallie and Mike raised their three children in Havertown where they resided for 30 years. Sallie was an active member of the community, a fixture at her children’s sporting events at Haverford High School and a dedicated member to her summer softball team, the Foul Balls. 

Sallie led an active life filled with travel, tennis, golf, painting, reading and cooking. Her greatest joy was her family. A beloved Grammie to her nine grandchildren, she loved to cook for her family and host them at a number of beaches throughout the Carolinas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sarajane R. Manning's name to The Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014 . 

A Celebration of Sallie’s life will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022. Visiting hours with the family will take place  from 9:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19082.
