Solita R. Hanna (nee Muruaga), 90, of West Chester, PA (formerly for Garden City, NY) passed away on April 26, 2017.
Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1927, she was the daughter of the late Julian and Soledad (nee Alvarez) Muruaga.
Solita was the loving mother of Theresa Vassalotti (Gregory), John J. Hanna, Elizabeth Hanna-Train (William), Solita M. Hanna (Mie Jensen), and the late Maureen Hanna; devoted grandmother of Danielle, David, Adam, Joseph, John (Brittany), Catherine, Cole, Luke, and Emma; adoring great-grandmother of Gavin; predeceased by her sisters, Ines Muruaga and Sylvia Kozik; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Solita's smile and passion for life lit up a room. After raising her family on Long Island, Solita relocated to West Chester, Pa. She worked many jobs well into her 80's. Her passions were antiques, interior design and acting. Solita was a member of the Screen Actors Guild and President of the landscape committee in her Deerfield Knoll neighborhood. After attending NYU for acting and modeling as a young woman, she had a wonderful career as a stage actress going by the name Solita Christie. Solita had her own radio show as well. She had opportunity to work on many local films in the Philadelphia/New York area with her daughter Solita and nephews John & Joseph. She fought really hard to the end celebrating her 90th birthday this past March with her loving family.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation 10:00-11:00 AM Monday, May 1, 2017 at SS Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Court, West Chester, PA 19382 followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment private.
