Sr. Jay McCann, S.H.C.J., formerly Mother John Cantius, 95 years of age, passed away on January 2, 2019.
Born in Canton, Ohio, she was the beloved daughter of the late James Vincent and Mary Cornelia McCann (nee Grant).
Sister is survived by her nephew Tom Garson (Nancy), her nieces Susan G. Taylor and Abby Orris, and her grandnieces and grandnephews.
Sister served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II as a Hospital Attendant First Class.
Sister's places of ministry included the School of the Holy Child at Rosemont, PA, St. Peter & St. Paul School, Fleetwood, NY, St. Mary's School, Melrose, MA, Cape Coast, Ghana, West Africa, Cornelia Connelly School, Anaheim, CA and St. Luke's Parish, Charlotte, NC.
Religious, relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Thursday, January 10, 2019 10:00-11:00 AM New Sharon Chapel, 1341 Montgomery Avenue, Rosemont, PA and to her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM.
Interment Calvary Cemetery.
A Wake Service will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 4:00 PM in New Sharon Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Society of the Holy Child Jesus at the above address would be appreciated.
