Stanley Thomas "Sonny" Waskiewicz passed away on September 21, 2024, at the age of 81, in his home.
Stanley was born January 12, 1943 in Wilkes Barre, PA and lived in Edwardsville. His family later moved to Claymont, DE and then Boothwyn, PA. As an adult he lived in several towns in both Delaware and Chester counties until retiring in Oxford, PA. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oxford and the Knights of Columbus.
He first worked as a child picking produce in Edwardsville. He was a graduate of Chichester High School. After graduating he worked for the Postal Service and joined the Army Reserve. He then worked for Sunoil in Marcus Hook while attending Penn Morton Colleges (Now Widener University) and Graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
While working for Slough and Horness accounting firm, he became a Certified Public Accountant. He then worked at Valley Forge Military Academy and Junior College in their Finance office as well as a teacher and assistance professor. He left Valley Forge to start his own accounting practice. While operating the practice he also was the managing partner of several real estate properties and a convenience store partnership. In addition, he also was one of the founders and Treasurer of National Bank of the Main Line.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Rosanne (Madera) Waskiewicz and his children: Mark Waskiewicz of Aston, Christina Waskiewicz Peterson of West Chester, and Tommilyn Engle of Downingtown. He is also survived by his brother Edward Waskiewicz of Prince Fredrick, MD. Along with his grandchildren: Donald, Michael, Tyler, and Natalie. Stanley was seen as a very kind and likeable man.
Stanley had many passions, but first was his family. He loved large gathering with both friends and family. Some of his other passions were golf, going on cruises and overnight trips to Atlantic City casinos. He was also an avid fan of Philadelphia sports teams along with Penn State and Notre Dame University.
Relatives and friends are invited to Stanley's viewing on Saturday, September 28th from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA followed by his funeral mass at SS Simon and Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Court, West Chester, PA. Interment private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Knights of Columbus-Sacred Heart Council, Church of the Sacred Heart, 203 Church Road, Oxford, PA 19363.
