Stella A. Bridy, 89, of Havertown, PA, passed away on October 30, 2013. Born on February 2, 1924, in Mt. Carmel, PA, she was the daughter of Joseph and Concetta Procopio.
Stella is a graduate of Mt. Carmel Catholic High School. She married Albert D. Bridy, also of Mt. Carmel, on March 21, 1942 in Savannah, GA. Together, Stella and Albert had thirteen children, twenty-two grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. After a marriage of fifty-three years, Albert preceded Stella in death on November 26, 1995.
Albert and Stella resided in Mt. Carmel, Harrisburg, Clifton Heights, and then Havertown. In the 1970's, they spent two years living in Tehran, Iran. In Havertown, Stella worked as a real estate agent. She also volunteered for various Catholic charities throughout her life. Stella was a longtime member of Annunciation Catholic Church and was a devoted member of the Legion of Mary. She was an avid bridge and pinochle player and bowler. She was also a master at crossword puzzles.
Stella is survived by eleven of her children, Susanna Winters, Pauline Wagner, Carolyn Kielec, Ellen, Sylvia McCullough, Paul, Robert, Joseph, Michael, Angela Pappas, and Annemarie, and all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her son John and daughter Janet preceded her in death.
Stella is also survived by two sisters Mary Sawicki and Florence Arnoldin, both of Atlas, PA. Her siblings Adeline, Josephine, Belmont, Joseph, Albert, Anthony, and Louise preceded her in death.
