Stephen Gray

September 24, 1946 — July 3, 2019

Stephen P. Gray, 72, of Downingtown, PA, passed away on July 3, 2019. Born September 24, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of the late Paul and Jane (nee Conklin) Gray.

Steve graduated from Interboro High School in 1964. He attended LaSalle University and the University of Pennsylvania to obtain an Associate's Degree. He was passionate about cars and pursued a career in the automotive industry for 40+ years. He retired from Audi Wilmington when he got sick.

Steve enjoyed spending time with his family and liked watching basketball and football with his sons. He coached all 3 sons in the Malvern Basketball Summer League for several summers. He especially liked vacationing in the Outer Banks and Florida. He also enjoyed swimming and going down to Marsh Creek State Park. Steve was an extremely caring and thoughtful man. He was always there to support his family and friends no matter what. He loved to tell jokes and you could guarantee he would come up with one for you when asked. He was passionate about children with disabilities. He started a tradition of giving teddy bears to sick children every Christmas at Chester County Hospital. His family will continue this tradition in his memory. He was also an advocate for St. Jude Children's Hospital and made regular donations to support the kids there. He will be sorely missed by all.

He was the beloved husband of Veronica M. (nee Pescatore) Gray; loving father of Tom (Autumn), Richard, and Andrew (Karol); and dear brother of Nancy Albert (Tom).

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation Wednesday, July 10, 2019, 10:00 to 10:45 AM at St. Elizabeth Church, 120 St. Elizabeth Dr., Chester Springs, PA 19425, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment Private.
