Steven Robert Matt, age 44, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away on August 12, 2018, after a three year battle with ALS. It was a difficult three years, but he fought valiantly and died peacefully at home.
Born in Springfield, MA, he was the son of the late Robert Ernest Matt and Linda Matt (nee Murray).
Steven was a cook by trade and worked hard to follow his lifelong dream of becoming a business owner. He, along with his wife, Kristie, became procurers of unusual objects and opened a retail curiosity shop.
Steven was an outstanding and devoted husband to Kristie. During his illness, he never questioned "why me"? He lived life on his terms and never complained. Steven and Kristie agreed to have his brain and spinal cord tissue donated to the University of Pennsylvania for ALS research, a wish that Kristie followed through with when Steven passed.
In addition to his wife, Kristie, he is survived by his sister, Carolyn Huntsman (Carl Ryan), his aunts and uncle Gerri Rubillo (Mike), Elaine Woods, and Fred Matt, his father and mother in law, Bernie and Dorothy Pagliaro, and many cousins.
Services and interment will take place at a later date.
