Steven Walter Swann, 45, of East Fallowfield passed away on April 16, 2014 surrounded by his family.
Born in 1968 in Morristown, NJ, Steven was the beloved son of Marie (Ryan) and Ronald Swann; dear brother of Lisette Swann (Jamie Johnson) and Laurette Anderson; dear uncle of Tyler Swann; dear nephew of Brenda and Jerry Sattee. He is also survived by his beloved and faithful dog, Lady.
Steve attended West Chester Area schools and West Chester University. He received his Associates Degree in Ancient History, Literature and Language from Swansea University in Wales.
Steve had many interests during his life; he loved Eastern art including interior design and Asian weapons, and he built a Torii gate for his parent's backyard Japanese garden. Steve's creativity extended to music, and for more than twelve years he sang and played in several local bands. He taught himself wood-carving and developed a business designing and carving beautiful pieces for high end furniture such as ball and claw feet as well as intricate finials for clocks and many different types of sword handles.
That love of swords led him to an interest in fencing in college and he was also very interested in war weaponry, especially those used during the Revolutionary War. This interest became a lifelong passion and he participated in several battle reenactments.
Steve was also a valiant fighter beyond the battlefields. During his illness he was extremely brave; in the face of pain he never lost his thoughtful nature or his compassion for others. To the end he was an amazing son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was generous, funny, highly intelligent

those who love him describe him as very sweet and kind. There was not a topic brought up for discussion that he was not able to speak on. Steve was a bright light for others even as he fought for his life. He never gave up hope and never complained.
Throughout his final years, Steve's beloved dog Lady stayed close by his side. When he adopted her from the SPCA, he insisted on also bringing home an older dog, as she was unlikely to be chosen by anyone else. The family called her "Lucky" since she was fortunate to have him. Indeed, all those who loved Steve were lucky to have known him.
The Swann family would like to thank Dr. Susan Littman and Susan Oddo, R.N. for their wonderful and compassionate care of Steve during his illness.
