Susan L. DiOrio, 69, of Malvern, PA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on February 18, 2025.
Born February 15, 1956 in Abington, PA, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Constance (nee Engle) Neidhardt.
Susan’s family moved to North Wildwood NJ, when her Dad retired as a breadman delivering baked good to families in Philadelphia and entered a partnership with two other WWII military buddies in the purchase of the Town House Variety Store. Susan and her family lived above the store and attended Margaret Mace elementary school in North Wildwood and later graduated from Wildwood High School in 1974. After graduation, she attended Centenary College in Hackettstown NJ graduating in 1978 with a degree in Elementary Education. Many of her weekends during her 4 years of college were spent travelling to Penn State to see her future husband, Stephen, and cheering on those Nittany Lions of Penn State.
After graduation, Susan and Stephen were married on September 9, 1978 at St Anne’s in Wildwood and moved to Malvern, PA where she worked as a teacher at the Little People Day Care School in the tiny Borough of Malvern. When Stephen began his career with State Farm, Susan left Little People to assist in the launching of their start up agency in Wayne, PA.
Susan’s lifelong passion was for her husband and family. Being a Wildwood girl, she loved the shore. Susan and Stephen met while both started working at Zaberer’s in North Wildwood at the age of 15. Their connection to the shore never ended and the two purchased a home in Stone Harbor NJ where the family has enjoyed many summers together. Susan was actively involved in the schools of her children, actively serving on the Boards of St. Aloysius Academy in Bryn Mawr and Villa Maria Academy in Malvern. She also served as an active member of the Women’s Auxiliary at St. Edmond’s Home for Children becoming its Treasurer, Vice President, and ultimately President from 2006 to 2008.
She loved to travel and enjoyed many trips across the globe, the favorites being those warm weather destinations in the Caribbean and the Hawaiian Islands.
Susan was the beloved wife of Stephen J. DiOrio for 46 years; loving mother of Stephen R. DiOrio (Sarah), Christina N. Muntz (Timothy), and Nicholas DiOrio; and adoring grandmother of Olivia Muntz, Charlotte Muntz, Juliette Muntz, Luke DiOrio, Luciana DiOrio, and Stephen B. DiOrio. She was predeceased by her two siblings: David Neidhardt and Nancy Scoledes.
