Sue was raised in Haddonfield, NJ where her father was a veterinarian. After graduating from Haddonfield High School, she went onto Dickinson College where she met her future husband Dave and was a member of Phi Mu sorority. After marrying in 1958, Sue went to University of Pennsylvania where she graduated with a BA in Mathematics.  While raising her family in Springfield, PA Sue became a Math teacher at the high school.  After Dave’s passing in 1978, Sue met the second love of her life, Bob Kirkpatrick, chatting at the sideline of their sons’ game. Sue and Bob were married for 38 years, adored by the blended family they so lovingly put together. After retirement, they lived for many years in Pine Knoll Shores NC, wintered in Naples, FL and returned to PA where they settled at Hershey’s Mill in West Chester, PA. After Bob’s passing in 2018, Sue eventually moved to Barclay Friends, also in West Chester.

“Mamie” was a loving grandmother, always enjoying time spent with her family. Bob and Sue were avid travelers in retirement, especially cruises and train journeys. Their many trips encompassed Europe, Latin America including the Panama Canal, the Canadian Rockies, and the western US. They also enjoyed golfing, with Sue being proud of her "Ninettes" trophy.

Sue was a devout United Methodist; with membership at Covenant United in Springfield, First United in Morehead City, and Grove United in West Chester over the years. She was also 50-year member of the philanthropic organization P.E.O. Sue was a fantastic knitter, with her family and many babies being the lucky recipients of her creations. Sewing on her prized Bernina was another favorite pastime, making beautiful dresses, suits, draperies, etc. Her favorite project was her daughter Tracy’s wedding dress, taking over 150 hours of detailed sewing.
