Susan Mary Kovolski

Susan Mary Kovolski of Villanova, PA passed away on Saturday October 1, 2022.  Susan will be remembered for her humor, kind heart and adventurous spirit.

Susan is survived by her parents, William and Kathleen Kovolski, her siblings Karen, John (Jennie) and Annie (Ryan), her niece Vivian and nephew Joshua, as well as many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, friends and loved ones.

Susan attended St. Katharine of Siena Grade school, Archbishop John Carroll High School, and Shippensburg University. At Shippensburg, she was an active member of Alpha Sigma Tau (AST) sorority and she graduated with a degree in Elementary
Education. She received her Masters in Elementary Education at West Chester University. Susan taught in a variety of classrooms before becoming a Reading Specialist. She turned the struggles she had with reading as a child into a career that
improved literacy for hundreds of students. Her students not only blossomed with Susan’s professional talents, but also enjoyed her sense of humor and willingness to play and be silly. Outside of school, she tutored students and assisted with summer school.

Recently, Susan felt the burn out that many educators have been experiencing and switched career paths. She quickly became trained as a dental assistant, and was thriving in the new environment of a dental practice in Delaware. Susan enjoyed learning new dental skills and the welcoming small office setting. In her last days, she told her Mom how happy she was in this new position.

Outside of work, Susan loved discovering new adventures – both large and small – like backpacking in South America or driving up the coast of California, and she frequently enjoyed going for runs in nature. She was also a person who fearlessly faced challenges,
like the time she was the only (petite) female entrant in the Big Daddy Splash Pool Contest while on vacation. Sadly, the much larger male contestants’ belly flops couldn’t be beat – but Suz made history as the first female entrant to try. Susan was also known
among her family and friends for putting together the best cheese boards at holidays and parties.

A Celebration of Susan’s life and Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Katharine of Siena Church 104 S. Aberdeen Avenue, Wayne, PA on Wednesday October 12, 2022 at 10:30  AM. There will be visitation with her family at the Church before the services at 9:30 AM.

In lieu of flowers, Susan’s family requests that donations go towards Donors Choose, a non-profit organization that funds
teacher’s projects in schools.
