Susan Louise Gerace Maiocco, born on September 30, 1954, in Philadelphia, and passed away on November 21, 2024. Raised in Drexel Hill, she attended Saint Dorothy’s Catholic School and graduated from Haverford High School.
In 1975, Susan met the love of her life, Michael Maiocco, through a close friend while working at ARA. Their love story blossomed, and they married, eventually settling down in Paxon Chase, where they joyfully raised their three children. A devoted mother and wife, Susan affectionately referred to herself as “Susie Homemaker.” Her home was a warm haven, beautifully decorated for every season and holiday, where the door was always open to family and friends. The kitchen table, often surrounded by loved ones, was a sacred space filled with the aroma of fresh coffee and sweet treats.
A passionate traveler, Susan cherished vacations in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she would rave about the best cheeseburgers and Piña Coladas at La Playa. Family trips to Mike’s hometown in Italy provided her children with unforgettable experiences. She found joy in simple pleasures, including day trips to Lancaster and annual craft shows in Leesport and Lititz, where she found treasures that made her home a true sanctuary.
In the face of challenges, Susan’s strength shone brightly. After her husband Michael suffered a stroke in 2007, she devoted herself to his care for the next 17 years, embodying resilience and love until his passing in June 2023.
In the fall of 2024, Susan faced her own battle with lymphoma, approaching her diagnosis with courage and grace.
Susan is survived by her children Michael Maiocco, Adrienne Piselli (Gabriel Piselli) and Gabriel Maiocco (Stephanie Maiocco), along with her five cherished grandchildren: Luke, Dylan, Sienna, Gino and Cecilia, her father Victor Gerace Sr., and siblings Carolyn Rauch, Victor Gerace Jr., and Angela Juliano and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving mother Agnes Gerace and beloved husband, Michael Maiocco.
A visitation will be held at Donahue Funeral Home in Newtown Square on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, from 9:30 to 11 AM, followed by a mass at Saint Anastasia Church in Newtown Square, PA.
Susan’s warmth, kindness, and love will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
