Suzanne H. Mele (nee Hudson), 57, of West Chester, PA passed away on September 10, 2015 following a nearly year-long battle with brain cancer. Born in New Brunswick, NJ, in 1958, she was the daughter of Diane Hudson and the late Vincent Hudson. Suzanne was the beloved wife of Dante Mele, with whom she shared 28 years of marriage; the loving mother of Michael Mele, Christina Mele, and Matthew Mele; the dear sister of Vincent Hudson (Annette), Edward Hudson, and Mary Fata (Lawrence).
Sue lived in New Jersey for most of her life, moving to West Chester, PA in 1999. She was a graduate of Highland Park High School Class of 1976, and attended Middlesex County Community College where she attained an Associates Degree in Computer Science. Sue worked in the technology field at AT&T in the 1980s - where she met her husband, Dante - until leaving the workforce when her first child, Michael was born in 1989. She then embarked on the most rewarding career of her life, proudly raising her three beautiful children. Sue was an active volunteer and PTO President at Bayard Rustin High School for several years. Three years ago, Sue returned to work as an administrator in the Office of Student Life at Delaware County Community College. Sue enjoyed gardening, rock music, Led Zeppelin, and a glass of wine, but more than anything else in life she loved being among family and friends.
Sue's family thanks the caring team of doctors (Donald O'Rourke, Arati DeSai, Joshua Jones, Goldie Kurtz), excellent nurses, and support staff at the Penn Medicine Abramson Cancer Center, University of Pennsylvania, as well as the caring staff at Neighborhood Health Hospice in West Chester. Special thanks to Dr. Peter Prociuk whose compassion and guidance brought immeasurable comfort to Sue. Lastly, we thank Angela Hardy, Sue's home health aide of one month, who cared for Sue as if she were her own family.
