Suzanne Shelmerdine

Suzanne C. Shelmerdine (nee Elligette), 83, of Havertown, PA, passed away October 21, 2020.

Born July 14, 1937 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Joseph and Natalie (nee Kineavy) Elligette.

Suzanne was a graduate of Immaculata College and worked as an elementary school teacher from 1959-1963 at Scenic Hills Elementary in Springfield, PA. Soon after Suzanne and Ernie married in June 1963, they moved into the Westgate Hills neighborhood in Havertown. Suzanne and Ernie resided there for over fifty years while raising their family. They built a rich, beautiful life together full of wonderful memories with family and friends over the years. They were also devoted members of the St. Pius X Catholic Church community where they spent numerous years attending weekly masses, religious holidays and celebrating their children’s weddings.

Suzanne was the beloved wife of the late Ernest W. Shelmerdine; loving mother of Brian J. Shelmerdine (Kathy), Mark J. Shelmerdine (Denise), and Karen A. Johnson (Carl); and adoring nana of Lauren Rose Shelmerdine, Eric Shelmerdine, Steven Shelmerdine, Allison Johnson, and Alex Johnson.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at St. Pius X Church, 220 Lawrence Road, Broomall, PA 19008, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield. Masks and social distancing will be required at all services.
