Sylvia L. Nespoli

Sylvia Perkins Nespoli, 82, of Media, a former resident of the Woodlyn section of Ridley Township for 45 years, died May 5^th at Riddle Village Retirement Community.

Born in South Charleston, West Virginia, on October 11, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Ralph L. Perkins Jr. and Hilda Morrison Perkins. Sylvia attended high school at Notre Dame Academy in Staten Island, New York and graduated from Moravian College with a bachelor’s degree in Education (minor in Music & Sociology) and a Master’s in Education from the University of Pennsylvania.

Sylvia was dedicated to teaching and pursued a lifelong career in education. Sylvia loved being a grade schoolteacher, beginning her career in the Upper Darby School District at Westbrook Park Elementary and then teaching in the Ridley School District for 25 years before retiring in 1999.  Sylvia enjoyed seeing her many former students in the community and attended countless Ridley graduations with pride. 

Sylvia is survived by her beloved children, Julie E. Fischere (Erik), James R. Nespoli (Danielle) and Edward J. Nespoli Sr. (Michele), loving sister, Jackie Lowe-Vosburgh (Bob), adoring grandchildren Edward, Alexis, William, Autumn, Jenna Grace, Nathan and Lydia, and great-grandchildren Callie, Koleson, and Bindi, many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband, Edward A Nespoli and son-in law William J Manning II.

Former students, friends and relatives are invited to her Visitation, Friday, May 12, 2023, (9:30 - 11:00AM), Service following at 11AM at Knoetgen-Donohue Funeral Home, 746 Kedron Ave. Morton, PA 19070.  Burial is in Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill.
