Teresa Hilsee

May 23, 1959 — November 8, 2024

Darby, PA

Teresa Hilsee (née McGlone), age 65, of Havertown, PA, sadly passed away on November 8, 2024.

A life-long resident of Delaware County, born in Darby, raised in Broomall, attended Saint Anastasia’s and Cardinal O’Hara and since 1995 lived as a proud citizen of Havertown, where she was a very active parishioner of Sacred Heart Manoa.

Teresa was the loving daughter of the late William Anthony and Mary Stella (née Magoon) McGlone. Beloved wife of the late Walter P. Hilsee; the loving mother of Pierce W. Hilsee; the caring sister of William A. McGlone, III (Victoria), Michael J. McGlone (Dona), Thomas J. McGlone (Jackie), and Joyce Patrick (Michael). She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews and her lovable dog, Willa.

Teresa, better known as “Bruiser” to a select few, was blessed to have an amazing group of tight-knit friends dating back decades. They shared life’s many milestones, both the up’s and the down’s and they were always there for each other. This group of friends were truly one of the most cherished parts of her life.

Teresa also loved the friendship of her Sacred Heart Family. Be it her Walking with Purpose Group, the parish office staff, the ACCESS team, those she visited with Eucharist at home, and so many more.

Teresa recently retired from a 40+ year career in all facets of banking most recently with the Franklin Mint Credit Union, where her engaging personality and kindness left a lasting impact on clients and colleagues alike.

Also a proud veteran, Teresa served honorably in the United States Air Force, where she initially showcased her remarkable talent for cooking. Her culinary skills blossomed during her military service, and she later utilized these talents to help and serve others at the ACCESS Chester Community Center.

Teresa took a deep, sincere, and loving interest in the lives of all who were important to her, and that was many. A conversation with Teresa meant you got her full attention. She actively listened and was always encouraging, supportive and honest.

Teresa’s voice and smile lit up any room and she was affectionately known as the “fun aunt” and always took on the role of the “rule maker” for Pollyanna gift giving. Her passion for travel allowed her to explore many new places and she also found particular solace by the ocean at the shore.

Teresa gave of herself all the time, but without advertising it. There are charitable things she did that some of us probably don’t even know about. It was simply innate in her to give of herself whenever and wherever she could.

This is why the family asks in lieu of flowers contributions that you consider making a donation in Teresa’s memory to the ACCESS Chester Community Center, 701 Booth Street, Chester, PA 19013, https://accesschester.org/.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Teresa's life during her Visitation on Friday, November 15, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by a 10:30 am Funeral Mass at the Sacred Heart Church, 105 Wilson Avenue, Havertown, PA 19083. Interment will be held privately.
